Let me
thank you all for the excellent coverage you gave to the Waris
Shah International Conference held in Lahore from July 22 to 24.
This meet has given a tremendous fillip to the promotion of
punjabi Language and Culture. This Conference has further
strengthened bonds of friendly relations between Pakistan and
India.
As announce
in this Conference, World Punjabi Congress will organize two 3
day International Conferences on Sufi Poets Shah Hussain and
Bulleh Shah in end March and August next year. World Punjabi
Congress will also continue holding World Punjabi Conference
all over the World. 13th World Punjabi Conference
will be held in Jammu Kashmir in September and 14th
Conference is Texas-USA, in November this year.
We take this
opportunity to put forward the following charter of demands to
the Federal Government and the Punjab Government.
a)
World
Punjabi Congress have decided to establish
Shah
Hussain
Punjabi
University
in Lahore is March,2006 under all circumstances. We hope that
the Punjab Government will sanction sufficient funds and land in
this regard. We also appeal to businessmen traders and
organization and moneyed person to come forward and help World
Punjabi Congress financially. Establishment of Punjabi
University will be the biggest breakthrough in the history of
the
Punjab.
I have nominated 10 Member committee to do fund raising and keep
liasion with the Govt. Ch. M Ashraf(ex Chief Secy), Saeed Ullah
Ch. Mian Iqbal Farid, Begum Tahira Mazhar, Hamid Akhtar, Zahur
Iqbal, Hassan Haider Zaidi, Afzaal Shahid,Hakim Shahbaz Butt,Zia
Qadri
b)
We also call upon president General Musharaf and P.M, Shaukat
Aziz to setup a federal University
of
Punjabi,
Sindhi, Pushto and Baluchi in Islamabad on the pattern of
Federal Urdu University.
c) We call upon Punjab Chief Minister to order the
adjustment of 10 Thousand Un-employed MA, Punjabi degree
holders.
d)
We call upon the Punjab CM to declare Punjabi as the medium of
instruction at primary level. On our side we
will ensure
that bill pending with Punjab Assembly in this respect is
passed.
e)
All Cultural and literary institutions in
Punjab
should be headed by writers, Artists and intellectual.
f)
We call upon CM Punjab to order issuance of advertisements to
punjabi dailies and periodicals at par with Urdu and English
papers. Grant in aid, to literary and cultural institution,
should be increased forth worth.
g)
We call upon CM, Punjab to establish a writers club on the
pattern of press club
In the end
it is our solemn pledge with the Ahl-e-punjab that we will
before long succeed in getting the Punjabi Language a rightful
place. We also sound a warning from this platform today that
some conspirators and anti- Punjabi elements in the Punjab
Babucracy causing hurdles will be dealt with in an appropriate
manner.
